Equine Treatments

All horses are athletes, from racehorses or eventers to pony club ponies or the family hack. No matter what level of use of a horse, they all may benefit from regular physiotherapy treatments.

You may have noticed a change in your horse's behaviour or performance. They may have become unwilling to work in a correct outline, jump or perform lateral movements; this may be an indication of the start of a treatable condition.

Common conditions that may benefit from physiotherapy include: -

  • Tendon / ligament injuries including :
    • Check ligament sprains
    • Collateral ligament damage
    • Proximal suspensory desmitis
  • Back Problems
  • Bone Spavin
  • Splints
  • Infected Wounds
  • Fractures
  • Muscle asymmetry

Equine Treatments are undertaken at your yard. You are provided with a record of treatment and a copy is forwarded to your Veterinary Surgeon.

All treatments are performed with referral or permission of the treating veterinary Surgeon in accordance with the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966.

In cases referred for treatment by your veterinary surgeon, it may be possible to claim through insurance for the cost of physiotherapy treatment.
